Recap: Maiden Blue Devils vs. West Caldwell Warriors
If the Maiden Blue Devils were riding high off their 90-54 takedown of the West Lincoln Rebels last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Maiden fell 67-58 to West Caldwell on Wednesday. Maiden has not had much luck with West Caldwell recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Maiden's loss came despite strong showings from Landon Teague and Raheim Misher. Teague scored 24 points, while Misher dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Teague scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Tae Maze, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Maiden has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for West Caldwell, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maiden will take on Bandys at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Bandys focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Wednesday. As for West Caldwell, they will head out on the road to square off against Lincolnton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 74.2 so far this season, Lincolnton's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so West Caldwell better be ready for a challenge.
