Baseball Game Preview: West Central Trojans vs. North Newton Spartans

West Central is 1-9 against North Newton since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Trojans will welcome the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. West Central has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Monday, West Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Caston. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Comets 15-14. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Connor Huber was a standout: he went 5-for-6 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Holle, who went 5-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: West Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, North Newton lost 16-4 to Delphi Community on Monday. The Spartans have struggled against the Oracles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Korbyn Haberlin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

West Central's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for North Newton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
