Football Recap: El Camino Real Comes Up Short + How To Watch

El Camino Real lost against Birmingham back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Royals were dealt a 42-7 defeat at the hands of the Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 613th, while the Patriots are ranked 233rd).

Gabriel Varga threw for 62 yards and one TD. On the ground, Raul Berdon rushed for 73 yards on only seven carries.

Kevin Hawkins produced another solid performance rushing for 92 yards and a pair of scores on only ten carries, while also throwing for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes for Birmingham. Those 155 passing yards gave Hawkins a new career-high. Birmingham also got a significant boost from Braylen Morgan, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for El Camino Real and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Birmingham, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

El Camino Real didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 28-8 victory against Granada Hills Charter on the 10th. As for Birmingham, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 49-21 win against Cleveland on the 10th.
