Basketball Recap: Warren Takes a Loss

Warren was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 50-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the O'Connor Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since December 6, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Warren lost, don't look at Devin Petersen. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 14 on his way to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Lacour, who went 5 for 12 en route to 14 points.

O'Connor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hagen Hurst, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. Hurst has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Evan Herrera was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points and five assists.

Warren's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for O'Connor, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10.

Warren will take on Marshall at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Marshall is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season. As for O'Connor, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the O'Connor Panthers take on the Sotomayor WILDCATS at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. O'Connor also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 53.8 points per game.
