Volleyball Recap: Jal Comes Up Short

Jal lost against Dexter back in August of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Panthers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Demons. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Demons 25-18 in the first set.

Jal started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-11.

Dexter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily DeLaRosa, who had six kills, three digs, and two aces. DeLaRosa is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Melody Duran, who had seven kills, five digs, three aces, and one block.

Jal has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Dexter, their record is now 12-5.

Looking ahead, Jal will take on Loving at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dexter, they will challenge New Mexico Military Institute at 6:30 p.m. on the 21st.
