After losing to Claiborne Academy the last time they met, Emerson decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pirates escaped with a win on Monday against the Rebels by the margin of a single free throw, 56-55.

Claiborne Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Kyler Monk and Maddox Gaston. Monk posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and five steals, while Gaston shot 45% from the field on his way to 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Cade Smith was another key player, putting up six points and eight boards.

Emerson's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Claiborne Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Emerson will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Parkers Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on December 15. Claiborne Academy has already played their next matchup (against Lafayette County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
