Football Recap: Sallie B. Howard Skates Past Columbia with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Sallie B. Howard rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed past the Columbia Wildcats to the tune of 49-0. The Eagles not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 5th (when they won 49-0).

Sallie B. Howard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyshaun Hassell led the charge by rushing for 40 yards and one score, while also throwing for 38 yards and one TD. The dominant performance also gave Hassell a new career-high in passer rating (121.5). Another player making a difference was Cain Penny, who rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown on only five carries.

Sallie B. Howard didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joshua Simmons and Malik Jones. Simmons got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Sallie B. Howard and bumps their season record up to 5-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 24 points in those games. As for Columbia, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
