Baseball Recap: Howell Takes a Loss

If Howell was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Shore Regional last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rebels fell 9-4 to the Ocean Township Spartans on Thursday.

Howell got a good showing from Xavier Cortez, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That one hit allowed gave Cortez a new career-low.

At the plate, Howell saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Loch, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Howell's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Ocean Township, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

While Howell had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
