Basketball Recap: Stagg Comes Up Short

Stagg's tournament run continued when they took on Rio Vista on Saturday. The game between the Delta Kings and the Rams didn't end well, with the Delta Kings falling 52-37.

Despite the loss, Stagg still got an impressive performance from Jayana Shoals, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine steals. Shoals is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Natalie Harper was another key player, putting up 13 points and six rebounds.

Rio Vista was led to victory by Samiah Holley and Makyla Mandujano. Holley dropped a triple-double with 17 points, 11 boards, and 13 steals, while Mandujano almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine steals. Thanks to that strong game, Mandujano now owns an excellent 47.1% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleigh Bloesch, who posted seven points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Stagg now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Rio Vista, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stagg will face off against Tokay at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rio Vista, they will be playing at home against Napa at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies' defense has only allowed 22 points per game this season, so the Rams' offense will have their work cut out for them.
