Volleyball Game Preview: St. Mary Cardinals vs. Castlewood Warriors

St. Mary is 2-8 against Castlewood since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cardinals will take on the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. St. Mary will be strutting in after a victory while Castlewood will be coming in after a defeat.

On Thursday, St. Mary got the win against Iroquois/Lake Preston by a conclusive 3-0.

While St. Mary won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-7, 25-22, 25-13.

Meanwhile, Castlewood came up short against Colman-Egan on Thursday and fell 3-1. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the C-E Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

While Castlewood ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 18-25, 25-17, 25-17.

St. Mary's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Castlewood, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

St. Mary couldn't quite get it done against Castlewood in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
