Baseball Recap: Redwood Takes a Loss

If Redwood was feeling good fresh off their 15-4 takedown of San Rafael last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Redwood fell just short of San Rafael by a score of 5-4 on Friday. The Giants were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 15-4.

Matthew Knauer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Redwood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Moseley, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Miles Harrison also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Redwood now has a losing record of 4-5-1. As for San Rafael, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Redwood will challenge Vintage at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for San Rafael, they will face off against Novato at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
