Volleyball Recap: Tomahawk Takes a Loss

After flying high against Rhinelander on Thursday, Tomahawk came back down to earth. The Hatchets fell just short of the Newman Fighting Cardinals by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. If the Hatchets were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Fighting Cardinals when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Averi Petta paced Tomahawk's offense, picking up six kills. Petta got some help from Shelby Borowski and her 13 assists. Borowski was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Tomahawk's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Newman, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.

Tomahawk has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Edgar on the 6th. As for Newman, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Merrill on the 6th.
