Volleyball Recap: Etiwanda Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Yucaipa on Wednesday, Etiwanda came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Orange Lutheran Lancers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost four in a row.

Etiwanda took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-13, 15-12.

Saaliyah Brown paced Etiwanda's offense, picking up 17 kills. Brown got some help from Alannis Machuca and her 26 assists. Lauren Furnald controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Kenzie Houston went supernova For Orange Lutheran., getting 16 digs and two aces. What's more, Houston racked up six assists, the most she's had over her last 13 matches.

Etiwanda's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Orange Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Etiwanda and Orange Lutheran should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Eagles will challenge Los Osos at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (38 vs. 139). Meanwhile, Orange Lutheran (ranked 26th) will meet Rosary Academy (ranked 131st) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
