Basketball Game Preview: South Point Red Raiders vs. Catawba Ridge Copperheads + How To Watch

The South Point Red Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Catawba Ridge Copperheads at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in South Point's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

On Saturday, South Point was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 84-80 to North Buncombe. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (73), the Red Raiders still had to take the loss.

While Catawba Ridge didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They claimed a resounding 71-41 victory over Forestview. That looming 71-41 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Copperheads yet this season.

South Point better keep an eye on Isaiah Thomas. He was instrumental in Catawba Ridge's win, shooting 65% from the field to rack up 27 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave Thomas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kevin Butler, who posted 13 points and five boards.

Catawba Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Catawba Ridge's record is now 4-1. As for South Point, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

South Point couldn't quite finish off Catawba Ridge in their previous meeting back in January and fell 51-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Copperheads' Mark Caslaru, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds.
