Softball Game Preview: Weiss Wolves vs. Lamar Consolidated Mustangs

For the second straight game, Weiss will face off against Lamar Consolidated. The Wolves will face off against the Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Weiss' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matches.

Weiss is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Lamar Consolidated as they made off with a 14-3 victory. Considering the Wolves have won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jordynn Booe was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Booe was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.

In other batting news, Weiss got a massive performance out of Anabella Gomez, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Gomez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Santos, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Weiss kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lamar Consolidated only managed four hits.

Weiss has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lamar Consolidated, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 21-4.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Weiss hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Lamar Consolidated struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
