The Barbe Buccaneers will challenge the Sam Houston Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Barbe's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Barbe and Sulphur have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Buccaneers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Golden Tors 55-10. The Buccaneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Jelandon Gray continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 237 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 71 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 28 passing touchdowns on the season.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Barbe was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 351 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 150 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Sam Houston played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Acadiana and fell 49-21. The Broncos were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Barbe will have to contain Gavin Breaux as he made an impact in Sam Houston's last game. He rushed for 121 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and also threw for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Sam Houston also got a significant boost from E.J. Hanney, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
Barbe's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Sam Houston, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Barbe has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 265.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sam Houston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 246.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Barbe ended up a good deal behind Sam Houston when the teams last played back in November of 2024, losing 42-23. Thankfully for the Buccaneers, Drew Bailey (who rushed for 152 yards and four scores, and also picked up 59 receiving yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
