Softball Recap: Winn Comes Up Short

On Saturday, the Winn Mavericks didn't have quite enough to beat the Cotulla Cowboys and fell 5-3. That's two games in a row now that the Mavericks have lost by exactly two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for Winn and nudges their season record down to 1-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Cotulla, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winn will venture away from home to face off against MacArthur at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. MacArthur is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Cotulla, they will face off against Highlands at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Cotulla's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Highlands' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
