Football Recap: Bristow Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Bristow blew Mannford out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Mannford got their revenge. Bristow fell just short of Mannford by a score of 21-18. While Bristow had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored Mannford 12-7.

When it comes to explaining why Bristow lost, don't look at Promised Johnson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 243 yards and one TD. Bristow's leading receiver Javon Freeman was Johnson's top target yet again, picking up 153 receiving yards and one score.

Mannford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jj Hindsman, who rushed for 134 yards and one TD, and also picked up 43 receiving yards and one touchdown. Hindsman didn't just play on offense: he also made eight total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defended one pass. Brayden Rodriguez was another key player, rushing for 120 yards and one score on only 14 carries.

This is the second loss in a row for Bristow and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Mannford, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Bristow will square off against Sulphur at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games. As for Mannford, they will take on Lone Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will be up against the Longhorns' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
