Brantley County scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the Appling County Pirates. The Herons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aldarrius Howell was nothing short of spectacular for Appling County: he went 9-for-18 on his way to 23 points and six assists. The dominant performance also gave Howell a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (67%). Another player making a difference was Bryant Carter, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 15 points and six rebounds.

Brantley County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brantley County will take on Wayne County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Herons will be up against the Yellow Jackets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Appling County, they will challenge Wheeler County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
