Softball Recap: Cumberland Sets Scoring Season-High Against Blue Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cumberland). They put the hurt on the Blue Ridge Knights with a sharp 20-10 win on Friday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Ashton Tolen, who went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Jude Miller was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Cumberland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cumberland's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Blue Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cumberland will face off against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Blue Ridge, they will host Georgetown-Ridge Farm at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights are facing the Buffaloes at the right time seeing as the Buffaloes are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
