Baseball Recap: Madonna Takes a Loss

If Madonna was feeling good fresh off their 15-5 takedown of Oak Glen last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Madonna fell just short of The Linsly School Cadets by a score of 11-10 on Saturday. The Blue Dons have struggled against the Cadets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Jacob Lazear was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. Koleton Grishkevich was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lazear wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Madonna kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Madonna's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for The Linsly School, the win also got them back to even at 1-1.

Madonna didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against Magnolia on the 25th. As for The Linsly School, they have also already played their next contest, a 10-1 defeat against Parkersburg South on the 24th.
