Soccer Game Preview: Newcastle vs. Torrington

Newcastle is 0-10 against Torrington since May of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Dogies will face off against the Trailblazers at 6:00 p.m. Newcastle has given up an average of 5.8 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Newcastle is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Saturday. They lost 5-2 to Rawlins. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 15, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Caden Esposito wasn't going to let Rawlins walk away unscathed as he scored both of Newcastle's goals, bringing his season total up to four goals.

Meanwhile, Torrington entered their game against Buffalo on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Trailblazers fell 2-0 to the Bison. The shutout was out of character for Torrington seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Torrington's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 9-4. As for Newcastle, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

Newcastle might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Torrington when the teams last played on Tuesday. Can the Dogies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
