Softball Game Preview: Julian Jaguars vs. Agricultural Science Cyclones

The Julian Jaguars will head out to take on the Agricultural Science Cyclones at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Julian has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Agricultural Science will arrive with four straight wins.

Julian fell victim to Solorio and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Sun Warriors by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, Agricultural Science beat Hubbard 10-6 on Wednesday.

Vanessa Spanos and Sophia Melendrez did most of the damage at the plate: Spanos went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Melendrez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Spanos a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Vanzant, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Julian's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Agricultural Science, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Julian suffered a grim 25-4 defeat to Agricultural Science in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Jaguars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
