Volleyball Recap: River Ridge Beats Benton for Their Third Straight Win

River Ridge had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Benton on Thursday. The Timberwolves were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Zephyrs. The victory was familiar territory for the Timberwolves, who have now won three matchups in a row.

River Ridge never let Benton on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 26-24, 25-16.

River Ridge found their leader in freshman Layla Gage, who had four aces and three digs. Those four aces set a new season-high mark for Gage. Stella Breuer also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

River Ridge was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in four consecutive matches.

River Ridge's record now sits at 10-6. As for Benton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

River Ridge will challenge Shullsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Benton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Riverdale on the 4th.
