Football Recap: Kearny Skates Past Rock Academy with Ease + How To Watch

Kearny won the last time they faced Rock Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Komets simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Warriors 41-7.

Leading Kearny to victory were Makai Nguyen and Jaylen Hill. Nguyen rushed for 90 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries, while Hill rushed for 137 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Nguyen's passing game has become a key predictor of the Komets' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise. Kearny also got a significant boost from Brendan Duncan, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kearny was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 337 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Kearny's defense and their three sacks. Michael Berry refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

The victory got Kearny back to even at 4-4. As for Rock Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.

Coming up, Kearny will be playing at home against Clairemont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Komets are facing the Chieftains at the right time seeing as the Chieftains are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Rock Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Mountain Empire at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Zayden Campbell and Elisha Lashone Robinson.
