Baseball Recap: Irvington Takes a Loss

Irvington lost against Clayton Valley Charter back in March of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Irvington Vikings took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles.

Angus Buchanan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Brayden Jaksa was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Aayush Shah also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Irvington has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. Clayton Valley Charter pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Irvington will welcome Pittsburg at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pittsburg will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Irvington surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they are taking a road trip to challenge Tokay at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
