Basketball Recap: Lafayette Jefferson's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

Lafayette Jefferson lost against McCutcheon back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bronchos fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 66-63. The loss was the Bronchos' first of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Lafayette Jefferson lost, don't look at Maya Layton. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Layton is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Da'niyah Johnson, who posted ten points.

McCutcheon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Keara Lipscomb-Allen out in front who went 9-for-20 to rack up 23 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lillie Graves, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 13 boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lafayette Jefferson fell to 3-1. As for McCutcheon, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-1.

Lafayette Jefferson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-54 victory against Harrison on the 22nd. As for McCutcheon, they have also already played their next contest, a 57-51 win against Benton Central on the 22nd.
