Baseball Recap: Estancia Takes a Loss

If Estancia was feeling good fresh off their 15-1 takedown of Penasco on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears took a 17-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tucumcari Rattlers on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Rattlers: they've now lost four in a row.

Leon Maxwell-Preisen stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Estancia's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Michael Anaya also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Estancia's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Tucumcari, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.
