Softball Recap: South View Beats Cape Fear for Their Third Straight Victory

South View had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Cape Fear Colts. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Colts last Tuesday, they had to take a 9-6 defeat.

JORDYNN PARNELL made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on DESTINY SHOULARS, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season. MADDY CLARK was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

South View pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cape Fear, their loss dropped their record down to 20-5.

South View didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Gray's Creek on the 2nd. Cape Fear does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
