Preview: Bucklin Red Aces vs. Pretty Prairie Bulldogs
The Bucklin Red Aces will be home for the holidays to greet the Pretty Prairie Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bucklin has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Kiowa County, posting a 59-15 win at home. That looming 59-15 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Bucklin yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bucklin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emmerson Kirk, who scored 17 points along with nine steals. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for her. Sydnie Jones was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Pretty Prairie was able to grind out a solid victory over Oxford on Tuesday, taking the game 44-37. Given Pretty Prairie's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Oxford is ranked 277th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bucklin's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Pretty Prairie, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Bucklin strolled past Pretty Prairie when the teams last played back in December of 2014 by a score of 64-49. Does Bucklin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pretty Prairie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
