Basketball Game Preview: Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans vs. Lumpkin County Indians

Greater Atlanta Christian and Lumpkin County are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans will square off against the Lumpkin County Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Greater Atlanta Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.

Greater Atlanta Christian took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Johnson 89-19. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Knights are ranked 514th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greater Atlanta Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cobi Obi, who went 9 of 10 on her way to 19 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Barri Newman, who went 8 for 15 en route to 19 points.

Greater Atlanta Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Lumpkin County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 63-30 loss at the hands of White County.

Lumpkin County's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Greater Atlanta Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Greater Atlanta Christian and Lumpkin County were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but Greater Atlanta Christian came up empty-handed after a 48-47 defeat. Can Greater Atlanta Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
