Recap: Booker T. Washington Wildcats vs. Escambia Gators
The Booker T. Washington Wildcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 67-48 victory over Escambia. Given Booker T. Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Escambia is ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Booker T. Washington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alex Jasquith led the charge by scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Jasquith grabbed two or more steals. Logan Brown was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Escambia lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tae Gaston. Despite the final result, he scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Tadarius White, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Booker T. Washington's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Escambia, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Booker T. Washington will head out on the road to face off against Florida State University High School at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Escambia, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Choctawhatchee at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Choctawhatchee will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
