Baseball Game Preview: Harwood Highlanders vs. Mt. Abraham Eagles

The Harwood Highlanders will head out to square off against the Mt. Abraham Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Highlanders fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Thursday's season opener. They blew past Hazen 12-5 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Mt. Abraham came out on top against Bellows Free Academy on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run sixth inning. The Eagles put the hurt on the Bullets with a sharp 16-4 win.

Jackson Jennings got the start for Mt. Abraham and what a start it was: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Jennings a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Abe Ready, who fired off three home runs and eight RBI while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted three runs, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Clark Crary, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Mt. Abraham lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellows Free Academy didn't launched any.

Harwood couldn't quite get it done against Mt. Abraham in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Highlanders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
