Baseball Game Preview: Mattanawcook Lynx vs. Foxcroft Academy Ponies

The Mattanawcook Lynx will take on the Foxcroft Academy Ponies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mattanawcook comes in on 13 and Foxcroft Academy on five.

On Tuesday, Mattanawcook made easy work of Calais and carried off a 9-2 victory. The Lynx might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Foxcroft Academy got themselves on the board against George Stevens Academy on Thursday, but George Stevens Academy never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Eagles. The Ponies are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fourth game they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Not much got past Calvin Landry, who gave up just three hits to keep George Stevens Academy off the board.

On the hitting side, Foxcroft Academy got a massive performance out of Hayden Strout, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave Strout a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josh Knapp, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Foxcroft Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mattanawcook pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Foxcroft Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Mattanawcook skirted past Foxcroft Academy 4-2 in their previous meeting on May 12th. Do the Lynx have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Ponies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
