Softball Recap: Halifax Academy Takes a Loss

Halifax Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Roanoke Rapids on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Payton Odom spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Emma Inscoe made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Halifax Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Roanoke Rapids, their record is now 3-1.

Coming up, Halifax Academy will take on Rocky Mount Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Rocky Mount Academy's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Roanoke Rapids, they will square off against Northern Nash at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
