Football Recap: Gaffney Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Gaffney and Northwestern squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Gaffney had to settle for second. They fell 52-45 to the Trojans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (38), the Indians still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Gaffney lost, don't look at Banks Bouton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 89 yards and one TD. Bouton's longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Northwestern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Means, who rushed for 120 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Kameron Vance was Means' top target, picking up 47 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 84 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

With the defeat, Gaffney broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-4. As for Northwestern, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.

Gaffney does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northwestern, they will welcome Indian Land at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,081 yards in their previous games.
