Basketball Recap: Young Men's Leadership Academy Comes Up Short

Young Men's Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the St. Anthony Yellowjackets, falling 98-68. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Young Men's Leadership Academy of the 51-36 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Young Men's Leadership Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aiden Olivarez went 13 for 21 on his way to 38 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. That was a full 55.9% of Young Men's Leadership Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Kroger, who had 12 points.

Young Men's Leadership Academy now has a losing record at 5-6. As for St. Anthony, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 23-4.

Young Men's Leadership Academy will face off against Navarro at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for St. Anthony, they will challenge St. John XXIII at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
