While American's win against Mission San Jose wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Warriors on Tuesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 30, 2023, but that streak is no more.
American wouldn't go down easily and took Mission San Jose into a fifth set where they got it done with a three-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-21, 18-25, 20-25, 15-12.
American's offense was headlined by Isaiah Rice and Darren Guo, who picked up 11 kills apiece. They got some help from Kensho Fukami and his 19 assists. Finally, Mahith Appani and Ishaan Jha kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked five attacks.
American's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Mission San Jose, the loss snapped their winning streak at five matches and leaves them with a 13-12 record.
