Basketball Recap: King's Academy Snags 11th Victory in Last 12 Games

King's Academy hadn't done well against Sacred Heart Prep recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The King's Academy Knights strolled past the Sacred Heart Prep Gators with points to spare, taking the game 66-47. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 66-62 two weeks ago.

King's Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Barnett led the charge by going 7 for 11 on his way to 18 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The matchup was Barnett's third in a row with at least 16 points. Karan Kolappa also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

When it comes to explaining why Sacred Heart Prep lost, don't look at Matthew Norris. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 11 to rack up 21 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Norris is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Osterloh, who posted 12 points.

King's Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Sacred Heart Prep, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 13-7.

Coming up, King's Academy will face off against Menlo School at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th. As for Sacred Heart Prep, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-51 loss against Carmel on the 8th.
