Baseball Recap: Wellsville Comes Up Short

After flying high against Chaney on Tuesday, Wellsville came back down to earth. The Tigers fell just short of the David Anderson Blue Devils by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Blue Devils: they've now lost four in a row.

Landon Ramsey was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Tyler Landess made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. Wellsville is 2-1 when Landess posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-13 otherwise.

Wellsville's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for David Anderson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wellsville will challenge Jefferson County Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for David Anderson, they will venture away from home to take on Chaney at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils are facing the Cowboys at the right time seeing as the Cowboys are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
