Softball Recap: St. Ursula Academy Beats Seton for Their Fifth Straight Win

St. Ursula Academy waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Seton Saints. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 3-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

O Basil spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Ursula Academy let V Oberkorn and A Cosgray run wild. Oberkorn scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Cosgray scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Oberkorn is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was A Bunner, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

St. Ursula Academy pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Seton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

St. Ursula Academy will square off against Sycamore at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Seton, they will take on Monroe at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
