Basketball Game Preview: Washington Union Panthers vs. Kerman Lions

Washington Union hasn't had much luck against Kerman recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Washington Union Panthers face off against the Kerman Lions at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Last Friday, everything went Washington Union's way against Liberty as Washington Union made off with a 45-23 victory.

Jade Holland went supernova for Washington Union, going 7 for 17 on her way to 18 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleia Brown, who posted seven points.

Meanwhile, Kerman made easy work of Justin Garza on Friday and carried off a 37-16 win. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Guardians are ranked 700th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kerman is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points per game. As for Washington Union, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10.

Washington Union was dealt a bruising 50-22 loss at the hands of Kerman in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Washington Union was down 26-3.
