It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mount Academy can now relate to. They fell 2-0 to the Portville Panthers on Friday. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their 13-game winning streak.

Gina O'Connell paced Mount Academy's offense, picking up seven kills. O'Connell got some help from Marion Winter and her 13 assists. Finally, O'Connell was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Mount Academy's loss dropped their record down to 43-5-2. As for Portville, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 35-3-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Panthers beat Mount Academy by a score of 3-0 on Saturday.
