Basketball Recap: KIPP Somos Collegiate Comes Up Short

KIPP Somos Collegiate played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 74-26 loss at the hands of KIPP University Prep. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-12.

Sergio Murillo was his usual excellent self, going 15 for 28 on his way to 33 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals for KIPP University Prep. Murillo's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Domingo Hernandez, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

KIPP Somos Collegiate's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for KIPP University Prep, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

KIPP Somos Collegiate will welcome San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy at 6:45 p.m. on December 16th. As for KIPP University Prep, they will head out to take on Varsity Opponent at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
