Softball Recap: Hobgood Charter Takes a Loss

If Hobgood Charter was feeling good fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Columbia last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders lost 13-3 to the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 two weeks ago.

Hobgood Charter saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Rae Cannon, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Hobgood Charter moved to 5-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3.

Hobgood Charter wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 15-1 win against Columbia on the 4th. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, they will face off against Ayden - Grifton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
