Football Game Preview: Vallejo Redhawks vs. Concord Bears + Official Tickets

The Vallejo Redhawks will square off against the Concord Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vallejo will be strutting in after a victory while Concord will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Vallejo didn't have too much trouble with Saint Mary's as they won 37-20. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Redhawks.

Vallejo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marquise Collier out in front who picked up 102 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. The dominant performance also gave Collier a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two). Another rusher making a difference was Carlisto Valetino, who gained 117 total yards and a touchdown.

Vallejo's run defense was locked in: Saint Mary's could only muster 0.3 yards per carry. While two picked up at least eight total tackles, Vernus Ragsdale stood above the rest. He picked up four sacks and made eight total tackles. Vallejo's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.36 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.6 on average over their last five games.

Vallejo's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. Ragsdale was especially locked on to Saint Mary's QB and sacked him four times. With that strong performance, Ragsdale is now averaging an impressive 5.2 total tackles per game.

Meanwhile, Concord was just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 21-20 to Northgate. The Bears have struggled against the Broncos recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Vallejo will have to contain Juan Gonzalez as he made an impact in Concord's last game. He threw for 116 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 54 yards and one score.

Vallejo's record is now 7-3. As for Concord, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Vallejo strolled past Concord when the teams last played back in September of 2021 by a score of 25-7. Do the Redhawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
