Softball Recap: Pasco's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Pasco never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Central on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Central Bears with a sharp 10-1 victory. Considering the Pirates' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Abigail Grubbs made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season.

Grubbs wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases were Garcia's first of the season. Morgan Montelongo was another, scoring two runs.

With the win, Pasco broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-4. As for Central, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pasco will welcome Sunlake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Central, they will host Lecanto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lecanto will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
