Football Recap: Chamayne Johnson Jr Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Wylie

Lubbock-Cooper lost to Wylie back in November of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Pirates came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 42-35. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by exactly seven points.

Lubbock-Cooper's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chamayne Johnson Jr, who rushed for 139 yards and one score, and also caught one touchdown. With that strong performance, Johnson Jr is now averaging an impressive 102.7 rushing yards per game. Another passer making a difference was Ryan Rodriguez Jr, who threw for 227 yards and four TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lubbock-Cooper was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 204 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 182 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
