Basketball Game Preview: Leland Chargers vs. Independence 76ers

The Leland Chargers will head out to face off against the Independence 76ers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Leland is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Leigh on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Leland was beaten by Leigh 66-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Chargers have suffered since December 4, 2024.

Meanwhile, Independence entered their tilt with Lincoln on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Lions 76-33. The 76ers pushed the score to 71-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

Independence's victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 9-6. As for Leland, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-6.

Leland was able to grind out a solid win over Independence in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, winning 64-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Leland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
