Volleyball Recap: Escondido Adventist Academy Takes a Loss

Escondido Adventist Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Calvin Christian Crusaders, falling 3-0. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-20.

Calvin Christian found their leader in sophomore Kaidance Katje, who had nine kills, five digs, and five aces. Katje is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Victoria Hoekstra was another key player, getting six kills, four blocks, and two aces.

Escondido Adventist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Calvin Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Escondido Adventist Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Coastal Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Calvin Christian will face off against rival San Diego Jewish Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
